Being seen and heard is everything in music. You need an audience to perform. One of the interesting showcase opportunities is the Made in New York Jazz Competition. Open to everyone around the world, any age, solo instrumental or vocal, you produce a video and they put it out to a global audience to gauge reaction. If you get big lift, you win the annual competition and a ticket for you and/or your group, if your group performed on the video, to head to New York City for a showcase that has you working with some of the top Jazz musicians in the world.
Plus, if you do get added lift for your video, even if you don’t win, having a video that’s had several hundred thousand views is something you can definitely tout to college and conservatory programs in your application.
